Some lakes have depths of over 200 feet and hold some of the largest stock of lake trout in Ontario. Speckle, brown, brook and rainbow trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, splake, salmon, whitefish and sturgeon are also plentiful.

Elliot Lake can offer an entire range of experiences that allow you to cast a line from a local dock within the city limits or a "go remote" at a fly in camp. There are boat rentals, guided trips and fishing packages all available through local outfitters.

During the winter months, ice fishing is extremely popular not only in the immediate area, but also on the more remote lakes, which can be accessed by snowmobile.

If you choose to come and drop a line, remember your Outdoor Card and a licence before you bait up.

Licences and copies of regulations are available at most tackle and bait shops or any Ministry of Natural Resources office. Daily catch and possession limits will depend on the type of fishing licence you hold, the species and where they are caught and in some cases the size of the fish.

Elliot Lake is located in Region D, Division 18, as determined by the Ontario Fishery Regulations. The following species table will provide you with some basic information in regards to fishing in our area. Be sure to check for any exceptions or additional fishing opportunities in the General Regulations Guide which may apply to the waterbody you will be fishing.
